Birendra Vidya Mandir was funded as the first academic institution by then 'Tikapur Development Committee' on 7th Phalgun 2031 B.S. to fulfill the educational requirement of newly established Tikapur Town. Its name was 'Tikapur Aawasiya Madhyamik Vidyalaya' in the beginning. The name was changed as then 'King Birendra Bir Bikram inaugurated the school building of this academic institution and then the school started to be popularity known as 'Birendra Vidya Mandir-BVM'. This school was categorized as 'Public Educational Trust' according to the amendment in rules and policies of Government of Nepal in 2059 B.S. Till today, this institution is in function as 'Birendra Vidya Mandir Public Education Trust'. Under BVM Public Educational Trust, educational service is provided to the children of pre-primary level to graduation level. But nowadays graduation program is running under the separate management and administrative system. The academic programme up to 12th class is under the management committee led by District Education Officer, Kailali as a Regional Model School of Far and mid western Development Region. According to the Public Private Partnership Proggramme, 2066 lunched by Government of Nepal Far and Mid -western Development Region are the main catchment area of BVM. Near about 2000 Student up to +2 level are studying in this academic year under the roof of BVM. It has been running +2 Programme since 2049 B.S. with Science, Humanities, Education, Management and Law groups. If we see the achievement of this institution, we will known that BVM us really a success in its journey with high reputation and glory.
